Slow, Sensory Morning Rituals

We hear a lot about morning rituals like gratitude journaling, goal setting, and mindset work.

These rituals can be wonderful for working with the mind, but for feminine beings, there is often something often missing.

Feminine beings need rituals that wake up the wisdom and presence of the body, not just rituals that organize the mind.

If you’re craving a morning that starts with richness and radiance of your body, here are three ways come home to yourself through the wonder of your senses.

Step One: Start With Scent

Aroma will change your mood before your eyes even open. Keep a bottle of essential oil on your nightstand, and before doing anything else in the morning, place a drop into your hands and gently hover them over your nose. Breathe deeply, allowing the scent molecules to gradually soften your nervous system. Scent is your most emotionally driven sense, so as these organically beautiful compounds enter your body, allow them to plant seeds of beauty across your heart.

Step Two: Candlelight Café

Candlelight at breakfast is one of life’s simplest luxuries, and can thread a ribbon of sensuality through your whole day. As breakfast is often the quickest meal of the day, let the flame call upon your body’s ancestral remembrance of gathering around a fire, and enchant you into slowing down to sense your way.

Step Three: Body Oil Blessing

After your shower, rather than a usual slap and slather of cold lotion, slowly anoint your body with golden oil. Warm it between your palms and trace figure 8’s up and down your legs, across your belly and chest, around your derriere, and up and down your arms. Let your hands move in the curvy shape you’d like to have your day to have. Your touch also stirs oxytocin in your cells, which lowers stress hormones. Bonus!

When you begin your day through the senses, you awaken a presence that is magnetic.

The Everyday Sensualist is a live workshop where you’ll learn simple and soulful ways to create more ease, aliveness, and pleasure in your everyday life.
